Sign Toppers
Sept. 2010

---We have ordered the new sign toppers and they should be installed by the end of September.  They are 28 inches long and 6 inches high, have a white background with dark green lettering and green flowers.  Each sign will be printed on both sides.  They will be made out of polymetal and will last a number of years.  We are purchasing the brackets from the City of Lawrenceville and they will put the signs up.  This will be a great help.

We will have a sign for every stop sign in our neighborhood.  Several neighbors have already volunteered to purchase one or two.  If you would like to purchase one, or if several of you would like to go together, the cost is  $51.70.  Make checks payable to Neighborhood Association of FH/WF.

Summer 2010

We are on our way!
Neighbors in Forest Hills & Windsor Farms are meeting the challenge by organizing a Neighborhood Watch

Neighborhood Watch is neighbors watching out for each other during the workday, evenings, vacations or any other absence.  The purpose of the program is to create an alert neighborhood by using simple crime prevention methods.

On May 11, 2010, approximately 40 residents gathered at the Forest Hills Swim Club to discuss the Neighborhood Watch program.  Becky Carlson, resident, is in charge of the program.  Officer D.W. Phillips, City of Lawrenceville Police Department Crime Prevention Officer, will be working with Becky Carlson and block captains to help make our neighborhood safer.  He will have neighborhood statistics on what is happening in our neighborhood compared to rest of city.

For more information, contact Becky Carlson at  thewacarlsons@earthlink.net.

Street Sign Toppers

Creating identity and pride for Forest Hills and Windsor Farms:
We want to show visitors and others that we are proud of our neighborhood. One of the ways to do this is to provide street sign toppers above the street/stop signs on our subdivision streets.
Several neighborhoods in the metro area have initiated this project and it does create pride and identity. The Association asked P.K. Martin, City Councilman, to place Street Sign Toppers to place Street Sign Toppers on the work session agenda in August. At this meeting the City Council approved sign toppers to be used on neighborhood streets.  A policy has been written plus an application for approval that neighborhoods will need to complete.
Once the City has approved the DDA's recommendation for the new City Signage Project, we will pattern our street topper signs after the drawings of this signage project. We will use the same logo, colors and fonts of the signage project.
Raising Money for the Street Sign Toppers:
This project is contingent on raising additional funds. The Neighborhood Association will contribute toward the project and will ask for contributions from those who live in Forest Hills and Windsor Farms. We are estimating that we will need to purchase over 30 signs to completely cover the neighborhood. Depending on the cost and the raising of additional funds, we may need to make this a two year project.
Neighbors can purchase a sign topper for their street or a portion of one. Several neighbors can get together to purchase sign toppers for their street. We do no yet know exactly what the cost will be, we estimate each sign to cost approximately $70.00.

Other Beautification Projects for Fall:
1. Replanting the small island at Forest Lake Road and Maplewood
2. Adding plants to the cul-de-sac on Windsor Farms Drive

Spring 2009

Curb appeal of properties in the neighborhood is very important to those looking to purchase homes.  According to Chuck Warbington, Gwinnett Village Director, aesthetic improvements in neighborhoods promote a sense of security, pride, and community.  The Association will do its best to have a well cared for entrance and small islands during this time.

We want the Trolley to make a trip through our neighborhood.  It's one of the best in-town neighborhoods in the city!

Spring 2009
Tour of Homes for Sale

This spring, there will be several Sundays dedicated to a TOUR OF HOMES FOR SALE within the city limits of Lawrenceville.  Starting April 5th and running through June 28th the Trolley will run tours on Sunday and will tour homes that have scheduled Open Houses that are for sale in Lawrenceville.  We have more than 10 houses for sale in Forest Hills and Windsor Farms and this would be a great opportunity for the trolley to come by those houses that are for sale.   Those of you who have homes for sale may want to get with your realtor to see if your home could be on the Trolley Tour.

Rodney Camren, Star Team Atlanta Realty of Keller Williams, is the coordinator of this project and if you or your realtor have questions, please contact Rodney.  404-375-1496  Rodney@starteamatlanta.com

Garage Sale Event

Saturday May 1, 2009

The Association sponsored a GARAGE SALE on Saturday, May 1.    The fee was $5.00 for members and $10 for non-members.  The Association  placed ads in the newspapers and on the website.  This is a savings and all the work of advertising was done by the Association.  Marie Beiser  coordinated this event. These pictures represent a sampling of the days activities.
